This Week in the Kentucky Legislature – Back in Action

By | 2015-02-27T13:55:18+00:00 February 27th, 2015|Blog, Child Welfare & Safety, Economic Security, Education, Health, Youth Justice|

Snow logo1remains on the ground and cold temperatures are sticking around, but the legislature was back in action this week. Two Blueprint for Kentucky’s Children bills progressed in the House:

  • HB 429 to create a strong child care sector in Kentucky through a child care council passed the House Health and Welfare Committee on February 24. It now awaits a vote on the House floor.
  • HB 301 to ensure school personnel receive education on child abuse recognition unanimously passed the House Education Committee on February 24. It then unanimously passed the full House on February 27. This bill now moves over to the Senate for consideration.

With just a couple of weeks remaining in the legislative session, we need bills to pass through the parallel chambers swiftly. We are working hard to ensure this happens and appreciate your support in taking action on these bills.

If you want a daily update on progress, check out our legislative updates page and action alerts page. Legislators need to hear from you about these bills so please contact them.
