MARK YOUR CALENDARS on May 7, 2025, as community leaders, policymakers, and advocates will gather at the Shelbyville Conference and Welcome Center in Shelbyville for the Together We Bloom Summit, hosted by Bloom Kentucky. This one-day event will focus on cultivating positive childhood experiences through both policy and systems change across the Commonwealth, offering a unique platform to explore new strategies for fostering resilience and mitigating Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) in Kentucky’s children.

The summit brings together experts and changemakers dedicated to the well-being of children. Participants will have the opportunity to engage with thought leaders, gain insights into the latest research, and network with peers committed to building a brighter future for Kentucky’s kids.

Meet the Keynote Speaker: Dr. Wendy Ellis

The keynote address will be delivered by Dr. Wendy Ellis, a leading figure in resilience and community health. Dr. Ellis is an Assistant Professor in Global Health and the Founding Director of the Center for Community Resilience at George Washington University. For over 15 years, she has pioneered the resilience movement to address the systemic inequities that contribute to social and health disparities.

Dr. Ellis’ groundbreaking “Pair of ACEs” framework focuses on addressing both Adverse Childhood Experiences and Adverse Community Environments, emphasizing the interconnectedness of individual and community stressors. Her work, which is being implemented in more than 20 cities and states, fosters equity by aligning resources, policies, and programs that build community resilience.

Quick Overview of the Day

Check-in opens at 8:00 AM, with coffee and a light breakfast provided. The opening plenary, featuring a guest speaker (to be announced soon!), will begin at 9:00 AM. Sessions will cover topics such as Positive Childhood Experiences, HOPE, the historic Opioid Abatement Funds, policy and the pair of ACEs, and more. Attendees will also enjoy lunch and have the chance to participate in engaging icebreakers and reflection activities. Stay tuned for the announcement of the full agenda!
