The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program for Women’s, Infant, and Children (WIC) provides vital support for the food and nutrition security of pregnant women, new moms, babies, and young children by providing food assistance via an EBT card, nutrition education, and breastfeeding support. However, we know the program only reaches every three out of five families that are eligible.

To better understand how this program operates in the Commonwealth, Kentucky Youth Advocates and our WIC CIAO partners are conducting a landscape assessment of the WIC program. To conduct this assessment, KYA’s WIC CIAO team has been collecting county, state, and national data around WIC awareness, barriers, and participation, as well as collecting data through focus groups, surveys, and interviews.

We Want to Hear From You!

KYA is asking current and former WIC participants, community organizations, and Kentuckians from all 120 counties to participate in the landscape assessment by completing this survey (Spanish version) and sharing this opportunity with others. We are especially interested in responses from kinship caregivers and Latinx Kentuckians, as we know they face unique barriers to accessing WIC.

The goals of this survey are to:

  • Determine what Kentuckians do and do not know about WIC
  • Gather feedback from Kentucky WIC participants on their experience in the program

Participation in this survey is open to all Kentuckians and completely anonymous. While individual responses will remain confidential, the findings of this survey will be used by the WIC CIAO team to develop outreach plans and materials with the goal of increasing WIC participation in Kentucky.

If you have any questions about this survey, landscape assessment, or KYA’s WIC CIAO project, please reach out to Karena Cash at kcash@kyyouth.org.
