Kentucky Youth Advocates is excited to welcome Dr. Scottie Day, Dr. Darlene M. Davis Goodwine, and Dr. Aimee Green-Webb to our Board of Directors. This new class of board members bring expertise and passion to the table as we work collectively to make Kentucky the best place in America to be young.
We asked them a couple of questions to introduce them to the KYA community. Get to know our new board members below!
Dr. Scottie Day

Dr. Scottie Day received his undergrad degree from the University of Kentucky, graduating Summa Cum Laude, and earned his medical degree from the University of Kentucky, College of Medicine. He completed his medicine-pediatric residency at Indiana University and his fellowship in pediatric critical care at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center. He is certified by the American Board of Pediatrics, Critical Care Medicine and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. He is a member of the Society of International Child Health, the Society of Critical Care Medicine, the Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Society, and numerous other professional societies.
Dr. Day has been involved in national and international speaking engagements and authored several textbook chapters and abstracts. He serves on several editorial and review committees. In September 2017, he began serving as Interim Chair of the UK Department of Pediatrics and was appointed Chair in February 2019. He was the President of the AAP-Kentucky Chapter from 2019-2021 and is currently serving on the Executive Council for the Section on Critical Care Medicine of the AAP. Dr. Day has been married to his wife Kristi for 22 years and has 4 kids ranging in age from 11-19. Outside of work, he can be found playing soccer with his kids, wrangling his 10 chickens, 1 rooster, 2 dogs and 5 cats or enjoying a day on the lake.
When I was a kid, I wanted to be a country/rock performer or a doctor.
What drew you to KYA’s mission?
I feel my purpose is to improve access and care to all children and families. The energy and investment we make in the earliest generations predicts the future of our state and country.What are you most excited about as a new KYA Board Member?
I am most excited about the ability to be a part of an organization that shares the same goals. In addition, I am looking forward to being a part of a collective voice of an organization whose history and work has made the difference in countless lives.While there are many issues impacting Kentucky kids and families, what is the issue you’re most passionate about and why?
I am most passionate about access to services for children all over the state. We live in an amazing state with some of the best people in the world.
Dr. Darlene M. Davis Goodwine
Dr. Darlene M. Davis Goodwine is committed to community engagement, behavioral health equity, building family resilience, and parent/caregiver empowerment. With over 20 years of behavioral health experience, she has cultivated a diverse career that encompasses clinical practice, teaching, and advocacy. As a psychologist and parenting coach, she fosters environments where healing and growth are not just possibilities but realities. Her advocacy work emphasizes the importance of supporting parents and caregivers while raising resilient children. She further values grassroot efforts that reflect the lived experiences of parents/caregivers, families, and the communities being served! Beyond her professional accomplishments, she is a devoted wife and parent to two teenage boys. Her personal experiences inform her work and drives her dedication to nurture youth and support parents and caregivers.
Dr. Davis Goodwine currently serves in different capacities across the state of Kentucky, working to enhance programs that support parents/caregivers and address systemic barriers to accessing behavioral health resources for families. Additionally, her community engagement and outreach focus on raising awareness and reducing mental health stigma. With a profound commitment to promoting mental/emotional wellness and promotive parenting behaviors, Dr. Davis Goodwine is dedicated to improving behavioral health access and increasing parenting support resources.

What drew you to KYA’s mission?
KYA’s commitment to supporting Kentucky families in creative ways. KYA policy and prevention efforts have been unmatched, successfully anchoring their work in improving the lives of children and youth.What are you most excited about as a new KYA Board Member?
I am most excited about the opportunity to work collaboratively with KYA, policy makers, state agencies, and families with lived experiences to turn initiatives into impact – being an active member in ensuring that KYAs work (initiative, policies) reflect all children and reach the homes of each child in the state of Kentucky.While there are many issues impacting Kentucky kids and families, what is the issue you’re most passionate about and why?
Prevention of child abuse, parent advocacy, and systemic barriers to accessing behavioral health support.
Dr. Aimee Green-Webb
Dr. Aimee Green-Webb is the recently retired Chief of Human Resources for Jefferson County Public Schools (JCPS). She taught at the elementary level and provided district and state instructional leadership in the areas of elementary education and literacy before joining the JCPS HR team. Dr. Green-Webb’s community engagement includes past participation on the boards of GuardiaCare and the Southeast YMCA and volunteering for health equity causes. She is currently serving on the board of Girl Scouts of Kentuckiana.
When I was a kid, I wanted to be a teacher.
What drew you to KYA’s mission?
I pursued my childhood dream and became a teacher. My journey to teaching included supporting and advocating for children as a high school student, through college, and into parenthood. I strive to align myself with organizations that are all about doing what is best for kids and KYA is a leading non-profit in this area!What are you most excited about as a new KYA Board Member?
I am most excited to be a part of and contributing to the collective energy that is making a positive difference for kids!While there are many issues impacting Kentucky kids and families, what is the issue you’re most passionate about and why?
I am passionate about “research and education that informs and recommends solutions to help students succeed” because I have a research background and 30 years of experience in public education. I also have personal experience with kinship care and believe I can personally advocate for improved support and communication for families that step up at such a crucial time.
