The summer is heating up, and so is our excitement for the 2023-2024 Health Youth Ambassadors program!

Are you a high school student looking to develop your advocacy and leadership skills? Are you interested in connecting with peers from around the Commonwealth to make positive changes in your community and throughout the state? Do you want to help Kentucky kids and families with their overall health and wellbeing?

If so, apply TODAY to be a Health Youth Ambassador with Kentucky Youth Advocates!

The Health Youth Ambassadors (HYA) program is a statewide cohort that engages youth to learn about advocacy and policy, address social determinants of health through policy change, and advocate for themselves and their peers on health-related issues.

This one-year cohort will:

  • Meet peers from around the state
  • Attend 2 in-person, overnight retreats in September and January
  • Attend 2 virtual meetings in December and April
  • Participate in youth-led community research to develop policy solutions
  • Participate in advocacy activities during the legislative session and throughout the year

From blog writing to rallying in Frankfort on behalf of Kentucky kids and families, the Health Youth Ambassadors program offers something for all types of young advocates, and helps students discover and develop their own unique style of advocacy along the way.

Check out what our 2022-2023 HYA cohort was up to last year and learn more about what opportunities you can get involved in this upcoming year.
