Call for Photos of Kentucky Children and Youth

Most of us have at least one child or youth in our lives that we care greatly about and cannot help but dote on to others – whether it’s our own children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews, or a kid we teach, coach, or mentor. Kentucky Youth Advocates has a free opportunity for you to show off those special children in your life!

We are seeking new photographs of Kentucky kids to use in the 2012 Kentucky KIDS COUNT County Data Book. This annual book documents the condition of children in Kentucky over time, and photos of children – from infants to teenagers – are used to help illustrate the publication.

We need photos that showcase Kentucky children and youth in settings representative of our state, which also highlight diversity in terms of age, race, ethnicity, and ability. For this year’s Kentucky KIDS COUNT book, we especially need photos relevant to the topic of education – everything from early childhood education to transitioning into college.

If you have photos that you would like to submit for consideration, please note the following instructions:

• Electronic submissions are preferred. Digital photos should be submitted in high-resolution JPEG, TIFF or RAW image formats of at least 240 dpi (no GIF files). Please email photos to: aswann@kyyouth.org.

• Hard copy photo prints are accepted by mail but will not be returned to the sender. Photos can be mailed to: Amy Swann, Kentucky Youth Advocates, 11001 Bluegrass Pkwy. Suite 100, Jeffersontown, KY 40299.

• All photo submissions must be accompanied by a photo release form. The form must be signed by the subject(s) of the photograph, or by a parent or guardian if the subject is a minor.

• If a photo release form is not sent in at the same time as the photos, then the following information must be provided with the photos so we can keep track of submissions and ensure we secure a release form before using the images:

• Number of photos submitted

• Photographer’s name

• File names with descriptions of photo(s)

• Names of subjects in photo(s)

• Mailing address

• Telephone number

• Email address
