Over 600 towns, regions and states have already adopted local Complete Streets policies. Now, a bill in Congress would help cities across the country make America’s streets safer for everyone who uses them.
The Safe Streets Act (H.R. 2468/S. 2004) would encourage communities to include safety improvements in transportation project planning. This step can make streets safer for people driving cars, walking, biking and taking public transit—at little or no extra cost and without separate funding sources. The bill does not trigger any new federal spending.
