Today’s passage of HB 301 by the Kentucky House means that we are one step closer on an important bill that will help protect children from abuse and neglect. HB 301 ensures that educators, who already do a great job of keeping kids safe, receive information on the signs to look for to recognize child abuse and neglect. The bill builds on successes from previous legislative sessions to ensure professionals who interact with children know how to recognize signs of child abuse and neglect.

We thank the bill’s sponsor Representative Rita Smart and co-sponsors, Representatives Belcher, Crimm, Marzian, C. Miller, Richards, Wayne and Westrom, for their support of this important piece of legislation. We also thank House leadership for bringing this bill to the floor and passing it today. We look forward to continued progress on this measure through the legislative process to ensure educators have the information they need to help keep Kentucky children safe from abuse and neglect.
