Maddie close upWe want to hear from you on how recent changes to Kentucky’s behavioral health services system have impacted children and youth.

Kentucky has seen many changes to behavioral health services since July 2014. The Cabinet for Health and Family Services reports that more children are able to receive behavioral health services now than in the past. At the same time, the Impact Plus program serving children who need intense, community-based behavioral health services ended on October 1, 2014. These children now must obtain these services from newly authorized Medicaid behavioral health service providers or their local community mental health center. It is unclear how these changes are impacting children and youth in need of behavioral health services. The Kentucky Voices for Health Children’s Health Task Force wants to capture stories about the changes to behavioral health services in order to better understand how the new system is working and ensure children receive the services they need.

Please share your story about how the changes in behavioral health services has impacted you or families or providers you know. Each story is unique to you, your family, or your organization, and we value your input.

Personal Stories may address:

  1. Services a child in your family received through Impact Plus and how the changes have affected those services.
  2. How recent changes to behavioral health services impacted a child’s access to needed services, either positively or negatively.

Provider stories may include the effects of recent changes on services you are able to offer to patients, issues related to benefits, or experiences you have had with patients who need services (without disclosing identifying information).
