As we near the end of National Foster Care Month, it is fitting to recognize the grandparents and other relatives who are raising children in Kentucky. Research shows that when children cannot remain safely with their parents, they are better off with family. Yet, we also know that kinship care poses lots of challenges, and these families need our support.
Today, the Kinship Families Coalition of Kentucky, which is coordinated by Kentucky Youth Advocates, releases a new infographic describing the facts about kinship care in our state. It also displays the inequity in supports for kinship care vs. foster care and offers some suggestions on how we can better leverage the strengths of kinship families to ensure they are thriving. Great example, Patricia!
This looks great and is so well designed. All who view it should have a great insight into why Kinshipcare imost of the time s the best option for a child, who needs a family for whatever reason. I am proud to be a part of this group and hope we can make the world a better place for children to live and become productive and caring citizens.
