Kentucky Voices for Health, a statewide health coalition of which Kentucky Youth Advocates is a member, released a new infographic that highlights the impact Medicaid coverage has had in Kentucky.  Three main takeaways from the infographic show how expanded coverage improves health and ultimately helps Kentucky as a whole.

  1. Coverage helps workers – most people benefiting from this coverage are working individuals, which leads to more time at work, less sick days, and more stable finances.
  1. Job creation – an increase in coverage means less uncompensated care and more payments to providers, which could increase jobs and more resources for local hospitals to provide care.
  1. A healthier Kentucky – Kentucky leads the nation with the uninsured rate decreasing by nearly 6 percent from 2013 to 2014. With more people having health coverage, Kentuckians can get the care they need and live healthier lives.

If you are interested in knowing how many people are enrolled due to expanded eligibility, the infographic has updated enrollment numbers by county.
