LaRosa with Capitol buildingThe week is upon us! The 10th Annual Children’s Advocacy Day at the Capitol in this Thursday, January 16. We look forward to seeing everyone in Frankfort!

If you haven’t already, don’t forget to register for the event and check out the CAD booklet to help you prepare for Thursday.

Here are some final details about the event:

9:30am – Check-in and registration will be available in the Capitol Rotunda and on the back terrace of the Capitol before the rally begins. Please be sure to check-in or register and pick up your 1) Children’s Advocacy Day booklet, 2) Step Up for Kids Notes to deliver to your legislators, and 3) Children’s Advocacy Day sticker to wear throughout the day.

10:00am – Rally on the back terrace of the main Capitol building. Our crowd is growing and we know that being outside is more visible to everyone at the Capitol – bundle up and be ready to be a forceful presence!

11:00am – 12:45pm – 2014 Blueprint Mini-Seminars in room Annex 111. We’ll have a copy of the final schedule at the check-in and registration tables before the rally. Don’t miss the discussion about your topic of interest!

1:00pm – KIDS COUNT Awards Ceremony in the Capitol Rotunda. Head back over to the Capitol building via the tunnel to recognize top legislators who are leading the way for Kentucky kids. Governor Beshear and the First Lady will be there!

1:30pm – Greet your legislators on the House and Senate steps as they head into session.

2:00pm – Session starts. View the House or Senate in session by obtaining gallery passes in the House or Senate Clerk’s office on the 3rd floor of the Capitol building.

  • View children’s artwork in the tunnel that connects the Capitol and the Annex buildings
  • Tweet about Children’s Advocacy Day throughout the day using the following hashtags: #CAD2014 and/or #FundKidsFirst.
